Ace the SAT — Expert 1-on-1 SAT Preparation Tutoring
The SAT is one of the most important tests for US university admissions. Our expert tutors know exactly what the College Board is looking for — and how to prepare your child to score their best.
In a nutshell
Age range
Typically taken by students aged 15–18 in Grades 10–12, though some begin earlier in Grade 9.
What it is
A standardised college admissions test scored 400–1600, covering Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (EBRW) and Mathematics. Since 2024 it is delivered digitally as the Digital SAT.
Why it matters
US universities use SAT scores alongside school grades to assess readiness. A strong score can strengthen applications and open doors to competitive programmes and scholarships.
How we help
1-on-1 tutoring with diagnostic testing, personalised study plans, timed section practice, and full mock Digital SATs using official College Board materials.
Is this right for your child?
- Your child is in Grades 10–12 and planning to apply to US universities — the SAT is still widely required or recommended.
- Your family is internationally based but targeting US college admissions and needs structured, expert-led preparation.
- Your child has taken the SAT once and wants targeted support to raise a specific section score (EBRW or Maths).
- You want a clear prep timeline, regular score tracking, and a tutor who understands the Digital SAT adaptive format.
“I had a great time with the tutors and got along very well — both were very good at simplifying topics down and helping me improve specifically in the areas where I was deficient. Would definitely recommend.”

What is the SAT?
The SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test) is a standardised college admissions test widely used across the United States and internationally. It is developed by the College Board and tests skills in Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (EBRW) and Mathematics.
The SAT is scored on a scale of 400–1600, with two section scores of 200–800 each. As of 2024, the SAT is administered digitally as the Digital SAT, which uses adaptive testing technology — meaning the difficulty of questions adjusts based on your performance.
Score format
400–1600 total (800 EBRW + 800 Maths)
Who takes it
Students typically in Grades 10–12, age 15–18
Digital SAT — What’s New
The SAT moved to a fully digital, adaptive format in 2024. The Digital SAT is shorter than the previous paper version (about 2 hours vs 3 hours), uses multistage adaptive testing, and features a built-in calculator for all Maths questions. Our tutors are fully trained on the Digital SAT format and use official College Board practice materials.
Section breakdown
Reading and Writing (64 minutes, 54 questions)
- • Two modules testing reading comprehension, vocabulary in context, grammar, editing and rhetorical analysis
- • Topics: command of evidence, words in context, expression of ideas, standard English conventions
Mathematics (70 minutes, 44 questions)
- • Two modules covering algebra, advanced maths, problem-solving, data analysis and geometry
- • About 75% of questions are calculator-permitted; all questions in both modules allow a calculator on the Digital SAT
What your child's prep plan looks like
Diagnostic and planning
First 1–2 weeks
We run a full diagnostic Digital SAT to establish baseline scores in EBRW and Maths. Your tutor maps strengths and gaps, then builds a personalised study plan with clear weekly targets.
Section mastery
Ongoing weekly sessions
Lessons target your child's weakest areas first — algebra, reading comprehension, grammar, data analysis — with timed section drills and detailed feedback after every practice set.
Mock exams and refinement
Final weeks before test day
Full-length timed mock Digital SATs under exam conditions, followed by mark-up sessions. We refine pacing, review recurring error patterns, and build confidence for the real test.
How We Help with SAT Preparation
At TheLearningMaths, we provide SAT-specialised tutoring that goes beyond content — we teach students how to think strategically under timed exam conditions. Our tutors understand the specific demands of each SAT section and build both subject knowledge and test technique simultaneously.
Our SAT preparation includes: full diagnostic test to establish your baseline score, personalised study plan targeting your weakest sections first, weekly timed section practice with detailed feedback, strategy sessions covering time management and question-type recognition, and regular full mock SATs to track score improvement over time.
Common challenges — and how we fix them
Running out of time on Maths modules
Our approach: We teach question-type recognition so your child knows when to solve fully versus estimate or skip. Timed drills build the pacing instinct needed for the Digital SAT's shorter format.
Struggling with EBRW reading passages
Our approach: Tutors model active reading strategies — annotating for evidence, identifying main ideas quickly, and matching answer choices to passage support rather than guessing from memory.
Uncertainty about the Digital SAT format
Our approach: Our tutors are trained on the 2024 digital adaptive format. Lessons use official College Board practice tools so your child experiences multistage adaptive testing before exam day.
Not knowing which sections to prioritise
Our approach: The diagnostic score breakdown shows exactly where marks are being lost. We focus prep time on high-impact areas rather than revising topics your child already handles confidently.
What to expect
After working with us, parents receive clear visibility into progress — section scores from regular mocks, tutor notes on recurring patterns, and an adjusted plan when goals shift. Your child gains both subject confidence and the exam technique to perform under timed digital conditions.
